Under 14 Match Reports

Sunday 7th March 2010 : Rusthall 2 (0) - (5) 5 Ringmer Rovers
Ringmer played the first half with all the elements in their favour; playing down the slope with a reasonably strong cross wind and the sun in the keepers eyes.

The game started with some very physical tackles by both teams. On ten minutes Ringmer took the lead through Callum slotting home. A few minutes later Callum went through on a one on one with the keeper and coolly stroked the ball past the keeper into the net. Ringmer were passing the ball freely around the pitch and down both flanks, and from one of the crosses the ball was cleared and Hayden volleyed home a fine goal from outside the 18-yard box. A minute later Chris E was hand to slot home the fourth goal from inside the six yard box.

At 25 minutes Ringmer were 5-0 up thanks to Callum completing his hat-trick; and this ended up being the half-time score. Chris F and Luke had kept play wide and help create a lot of chances in first half.

Ringmer were aware that the second half would be tough, as the elements they had in their favour in the first half were now against them. Ten minutes into the half saw Rusthall pull a goal back, with a wonder goal that Ryan had no chance in stopping. Five minutes later Rusthall ran through to score again.

Ringmer dug in deep as a team; with the defence of Ryan, Tom, Frazer, Elliot and Michael all playing well to deny Rusthall any further goals. Mathew and Hayden were strong all game in the physical midfield battle.

Well done to all the boys in a very competitive game.
